With Valentine’s Day upon us our thoughts typically turn toward spring and not the weeks of winter we have ahead of us. I want to give an update on where we stand in terms of snowfall. Grand Rapids is holding close to the average for the season. As of Saturday we’re 2.3” above average for the etire season. For the month we’re and 5.6” above, mainly from the record setting snow on the nineth. Notice just how much snow we had by last year at this time, 95.6”. Remember the average snowfall for an entire winter is 72.2”.
The map below from the National Operatinal Hydtologic Remote Sensing Center shows the snowcover for the Nothern Great Lakes. As of Yesterday 100% of the region is covered by snow with an average snow depth of 12.6”. Grand Rapids redorded their snow depth at 6”.
